    Before forming or placing concrete, start with the current job documents and identify the work limits and reference elevations.

    Review the work documents

    Confirm the work area, benchmarks, grades, drainage direction, specified materials, and required inspections with the current approved documents and instructor or supervisor.

    Check access and site hazards

    Confirm utility locations and the site traffic plan. Identify excavation edges, unstable ground, overhead hazards, and equipment routes before work begins.

  3. 03

    Prepare the subgrade as specified

    Remove unsuitable material only to the limits directed for the job. Shape and condition the remaining support according to the approved documents; do not guess at replacement depth or moisture requirements.

  4. 04

    Place and compact the specified base

    Use the approved material and placement method. Follow the project requirements for lift thickness, moisture conditioning, compaction, and any testing or observation.

  5. 05

    Check and protect the prepared surface

    Compare elevations and drainage with the layout controls. Repair equipment ruts or disturbed areas as directed, then protect the accepted surface from traffic and weather damage.
